This workshop reviews all the major libraries and Family History Centers in the area regarding genelaogy collections. Librarians from Poudre River in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Cheyenne Libraries plus Family History Centers give presentations on their genealogy holdings and databases for their respective library systems.

This FREE three hour class covers researching and locating a wide variety of genealogy records including census, cemetery, military, immigration, will and much more.

Genealogy on the Internet Workshop

The workshop begins with a 60 minute presentation on HeritageQuest, Rootweb, Ancestry, and FamilySearch websites and how to use those sites. After the presentation, the genealogists and computer assistants will be available for two hours to assist the participants in researching their ancestors.

Genealogy on the Internet

This is a three hour workshhop on learning different websites to use for your genelaogy research. The first hour duscusses four major genelaogy websites: Ancestry.com, HeritageQuest.com, FamilySearch.org and Rootsweb.com. The last two hours hleps the attendees use these databases to track their family tree. Attendees need to being their family tree information. Attendees need to rgister below. Limited to 6 computer stations during the second half, but more people can attend the initial presentation. Open to the public.

Preserving Your Precious Memories!

This three hour workshop shows how to preserve your important family photos and documents by using the Flip-Pal portable scanner. The first hour will give a demonstration of the many features of this innovative scanner product. The last two hours will help attendees who bring their precious memories with scanning their photos or documents. Each attendee who wants to have their items scanned and recorded must either bring their own SD memory card or USB flash drive or purchase an SD memory card at the workshop for $5. Limit 10 scanned items per attendee. Attendees will need to register for this workshop! FREE and open to the public.

Annual Holiday Adventure Dinner

Due to bad weather, we rescheduled our dinner for December 6. If you haven't registered previously, please register today. Registration closes on Sunday, December 4 at midnight! Great food will be served by Canino's Italian Restaurant at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins for $13 per person. Lots of great prizes will be raffled including genealogy software, books, restaurant or dinner theatre coupons, Family History Expo tickets, and our grand prize is an Ancestry.com subscription. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the door for an additional $1 to $5 per person for our annual fundraiser. Entertainment includes a fascinating video on the Family History Library, several stories by our members, and we'll annouce our 2011 Volunteer of the Year! Dating Old Photographs

Fashion expert Linda Carlson will present a FREE workshop on “Dating Old Photographs” at the CSU University Center of Arts Annex. Linda will begin with an overview of the past history on men’s and women’s fashion from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s. After the presentation, she will assist class attendees with a descriptive analysis of ther personal photographs brought to the workshop. Please bring one or two old photographs for Linda to review with you.

This FREE three hour workshop includes a one hour presentation on four popular onliine genealogy databases: HeritageQuest.com or USGenweb.org, Rootsweb.com, Ancestry.com,& FamilySearch.org. After a short break, our society volunteers will help the attendees with their family trees with assistance on researching their ancestors using the databases and answering questions during the last two hours. Class instructors are librarian Ginny Feagler and society instructor Bob Larson. Visitors are cordially welcome to attend. Please bring a relative or friend interested in genealogy.
