Historic Marker Project

Historic Marker Project Flyer

The Historic Marker Project of Friday’s Council Tree Chapter, NSDAR is
the result of locating historic markers at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins,
CO that need restoration or serious cleaning. These markers were found
during our eight-year project of photographing every marker in Grandview
Cemetery, uploading ones not already found on Find a Grave and updating
the cemetery database.

Grandview Cemetery is the heart of Fort Collins’ history. Established in
1887 it contains the markers of the earliest pioneers as well as some of the
soldiers from the original Camp Collins. Others buried there include
Veterans from the War of 1812 forward, an entire family who perished in
the blizzard of 1949, members of various service organizations and the
famous as well as the quiet, hard-working backbone of the community.

The theme of our Historic Marker Project is “Beloved in Life, Not Forgotten in Death.”
Each person buried here deserves to have his/her marker preserved for future generations to remember.

Thanks to funding from the Larimer County Genealogical Society’s Conferences,
other donations and our own budget, Friday’s Council Tree Chapter will be able to
start work on this very worthwhile project.
