Member Programs

Basement Bookshelf

This program, headed by Roger Long, is a virtual library for members and researchers. Members volunteer to share genealogy related books from their collection in a variety of ways with fellow researchers. Members can choose to loan the books, have researchers come to their homes to do lookups or perform the lookups themselves. A list of the books in the Basement Bookshelf is online along with details about their subject matter, presence of indexes etc. Forms to submit a book to the Basement Bookshelf are available at the meetings and on the website. Print as many copies as you need and submit one form per book.

Mentoring

Sharon Koleber chairs our mentoring committee. In this program, members volunteer to do one-on-one mentoring as a service to other members new to genealogy or just need to brainstorm.

Recycle Table

What genealogist doesn’t have a stack of old genealogy of magazines laying around their house? Waste not, want not we say. You can drop off those magazines and journals at Cathi Smith’s recycle table at the general meetings and she will resell them to members at a low, low price. Cathi usually has a large selection of popular magazines like Family Tree Magazine, Heritage Quest and Internet Genealogy available so be sure to browse her table when you’re at the meeting.

If you would like to participate in any of our programs, please contact the chairperson of that committee.
