New to genealogy or just wanting to review your research skills? This free three-hour class may be just what you’re looking for. The program will cover various types of genealogical records including censuses, vital records, passenger lists, military records, land records, cemetery records, and more with many examples of each. It will explain the differences between primary and secondary records and help you determine the value of each.
In addition, the class will explain the many different online sources available including free databases at Loveland Library and at home as well as paid subscription ones. After you’ve located these records, you may wonder what to do with them, and what genealogy software or online trees to use. This class will provide many resources to consider besides our genealogy society and many ethnic societies in our area.
Robert (Bob) Larson is an instructor, library volunteer, and past president for Larimer County Genealogical Society. Bob is also president of the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies in Denver.
