New to genealogy or just wanting a tune up of your research skills? This free three-hour class may be just what you’re looking for. The program will cover various types of genealogical records including censuses, vital records, passenger lists, military records and more. It will explain the differences between primary and secondary records and help you determine the value of each.
In addition, the class will delve into the wealth of online records available including free databases as well as paid subscription ones. Once you’ve found records, you may wonder what to do with them, and the class will give you information to help you make the decision as to what type of record keeping is right for you, whether that is paper and pencil, desk top genealogy software or online family trees.
Robert (Bob) Larson is an instructor, library volunteer, and past president for Larimer County Genealogical Society besides being a speaker at different societies across Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Bob has an MBA, electronics engineering, and marketing degrees. He retired in 2000 from Motorola after 28 years and is currently the Marketing Director, photojournalist, product consultant, IT manager, monthly column writer on genealogy and technology, and manager of video production for 50 Plus Media Solutions in Boulder.
