Carol Stetser

New to genealogy or just wanting a tune up of your research skills?  This free three-hour class may be just what you’re looking for.  The program will cover various types of genealogical records including censuses, vital records, passenger lists, military records and more.  It will explain the differences between primary and secondary records and help you determine the value of each.

In addition, the class will delve into the wealth of online records available including free databases as well as paid subscription ones.  Once you’ve found records, you may wonder what to do with them, and the class will give you information to help you make the decision as to what type of record keeping is right for you, whether that is paper and pencil, desk top genealogy software or online family trees.

Biography:

Carol is an avid genealogist who has served in various capacities for several northern Colorado genealogical societies.  In addition to researching her own family, Carol volunteers as the researcher for Larimer County Genealogical Society and volunteers online to help out-of-area researchers find records for their families.  She also gives presentations on various aspects of genealogical research.

Carol recently participated in a cemetery program for her local DAR chapter which entailed photographing and researching all 20,000+ graves at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.  A longtime member of the Swedish Genealogical Society of Colorado, Carol is actively researching her Swedish ancestry, focusing recently on her links to nobility.
