German Study Group – “It Takes a Village”

Members and visitors are welcome to join this group! Our October 1, 2022 meeting will be held via Zoom.

Topic:  “It Takes a Village” – Edie Adams

“It Takes a Village” uses examples from the speaker’s personal research to show that expanding your efforts beyond your core family can lead to wonderful discoveries. Edie Adams will show how she found new information about her relatives by first identifying who else lived in the village of Kromoli in Russia and tracking them through various
sets of World War II-era records.

Speaker Bio:

Edie is neither a professional genealogist or historian. But after a career in journalism, she enjoys the research and story-telling that moves beyond the bare bones of births, marriages and deaths. Both sides of her family were ethnic Germans who lived in Eastern Europe for several centuries before the trauma and disruption of Soviet communism and World War II. She lives outside Philadelphia, which became home for her immigrant relatives in 1952.

Edie is a long-time member and former president of the Society for German
Genealogy in Eastern Europe. And is also a board member and newsletter
editor for the International German Genealogy Partnership.
