Now that you’ve looked at basic records such as the census and vital records, are you wondering what to do next? Intermediate Genealogy Part One will help you advance beyond these basic records. This Part One class will teach you how to access and use the following records in depth: census records, church and government vital records, cemetery records, military records, and newspaper/obits in depth. Learn new terms such as enumerator, census schedules, baptisms vs birth, DD214, MOS, service #, sources, obits, and other esoteric terms that tend to confuse novice record users and where to find these records.
This FREE, three-hour class will provide clues you’ve been looking for to take your family history to the next level. Plus we will review the databases available at Fort Collins Library and your home. Handouts will be available.
Be sure to register for Intermediate Genealogy Part Two on May 28! That class will include Directories, Land Records, Passenger & Naturalization Records, Court Records, and Lineage & Ethnic Societies in our area.
As a history and English major in college, Nichelle works for Ancestry.com as a professional genealogist and researcher. She is well versed in research standards as she has applied it to her own family research since 2003. Nichelle completed the National Genealogical Society Home Study Course (Nov 2014) as well as the Boston University Certificate in Genealogical Research (Aug 2014). She is also a graduate of ProGen Study Group 25 (August 2016) and plan to continue my education as much as possible and look forward to taking part in institutes in the future. She specializes in Mid-Western research, land records, New England research, and house histories.
Everyone interested in genealogy or family history is welcome to attend our free online classes!
Simple handouts available at the class and the slide presentation will be sent via email to all registered attendees the day before the class.
